Release scope

This release note applies only to the firmware package profile DRV110085BDV1. It covers the cumulative software changes from version 0.2.4 build 6 (0-2-4.6) through version 0.2.7 build 6 (0-2-7.6). The package includes matched application and storage images.

What’s new

Protection and motor-control reliability

  • Improved protection against short current spikes, temporary overloads, and sustained high-current conditions.
  • Improved motor-output release behavior when throttle or torque demand returns to zero.
  • Added battery input-current limiting and selectable Low, Mid, and High power limits with a separate on/off control. Turning Power Limits off preserves the selected tier and watt values while independent current and hardware safety limits remain active.
  • Simplified current-protection configuration by removing obsolete settings.

Direction and drive-mode setup

  • Added a guided Direction Control assistant with clearer setup, review, activation, and completion steps.
  • Simplified Direction Switch capture, recapture, and clearing, with immediate saving and additional safeguards against unsafe changes while the motor is active.
  • Added configurable Neutral, Boost, and Launch Control direction functions.
  • Improved on-screen guidance for safely enabling the motor after setup.
  • Changed the packaged reverse output default from 100% to 70%.

Live status, diagnostics, and user interface

  • Upgraded browser and BLE live-data delivery for faster refresh, lower display delay, smoother Dashboard animations, and consistent status and diagnostics.
  • Added clearer Dashboard power/current/voltage presentation, board-aware sensing labels, Power Limit status in Diagnostic, device MAC display, and improved direction indication.
  • Made Custom Output and Runtime Trace Plot available in Basic mode. Custom Output behavior now follows reverse intent where configured.
  • Improved automatic controller recognition by supported setup and diagnostic tools.

Who should update?

Recommendation

This update is recommended for all DRV110085BDV1 installations currently running version 0.2.4 build 6, especially systems that use Direction Switch, Current/Torque control, power limiting, live Dashboard/Diagnostic data.

Before you update

  • Confirm the active board profile is DRV110085BDV1 in About or Diagnostic.
  • Put the system in a safe service condition and keep motor output disabled.
  • Use a stable power supply and do not interrupt either image upload.

How to update

For a normal field update, use the two matched OTA files from the DRV110085BDV1 package folder:

app_0002076.binApplication firmware
storage_0002076.binWeb application, default configuration, and board-specific package assets

On the controller's OTA update page, upload the application file followed by the storage file. Reboot only when requested, clear stale browser content if prompted, and verify version 0.2.7 build 6 with current package compatibility status.

Important configuration changes

After updating, review these settings because new defaults and options may not replace saved values.

  • New settings include battery input-current limiting, Power Limits controls, Boost and Launch Control ramps, and Neutral/Boost/Launch direction mappings.
  • Power Limits are disabled by default. The packaged tier values are 2700 W Low, 3780 W Mid, and 5400 W High, with High selected; enabling Power Limits applies the selected watt ceiling.
  • Updated the packaged protection timing defaults for improved operation during temporary voltage and current disturbances.
  • Filter Profiles and Ludicrous Mode are retired. Obsolete current-protection adjustment settings have also been removed.
  • Direction setup and saved mappings should be reviewed after update, particularly for Switch as Throttle, Neutral, Boost, Launch Control, and the new 70% reverse default.
